People upset over leaving behind their pets and old ones in the family is usual but when plant lovers are reluctant to go on vacation much needed because they don't want to leave their plants unattended, it is a serene feeling. Today we have come to the rescue of all these nature lovers who just can't leave their hearts behind them without knowing their good. Flowers and plants not just require water, sunlight and food to survive but they also need human love and touch. We may not know this but scientifically it has been proven that if we talk good to our plants it impacts our mental health in a very positive way and so helps the plant to bloom at an exponential rate as well. Over these studies and over all the years that people have found their way to mental peace and happiness in life through their pets, flowers and other natural things that can't speak but still speak to their hearts it has become very important for researchers to find a way to keep these relationships alive. Drainage holes

Create proper drainage holes in your plants before we even think of watching them behind your back because overwatering the plants can lead to their destruction in no time. Whatever means we use to water the plants on their own it is absolutely necessary for the water to drain out as and when required for their goodwill. You can use plastic bottles or special equipment to create holes in the soil right to the bottom so that water can seep through but not flow as it is so that the plants get to retain as much of it as required.

Water bottles

Take water bottles and remove the lids, fill them with water and make holes in the soil and keep the bottles upside down draining into those holes. You can either keep the lids on and let the water soak in very little quantity over the time of your vacation so that the plant gets its everyday dose without overwatering. It is the best way to go if you do not want to involve any mechanical or expensive procedures and travel often. Two bottles for a plant if it is an average size plant will be enough to keep the plant alive and blooming till you come back.

Succulents

If you have a lot of succulent plants in your house you don't really have anything to worry about because they are built in such a way that doesn't require water even if it is not provided to them for up to two weeks or more. Remember to water them before you leave your house so that the water you provide to them lasts for two weeks or so. You can even shift them indoors so that the exterior environment and heat from the sun do not do any damage and they can survive easily while you're gone.

Water outdoor plants excessively

If you have outdoor plants your issue is quite easy. If only you plan to water them excessively before going they can last up to a week or so without any further assistance. Plants are always used to making their own food and finding a way for themselves so they will be happier on their own for a while. Although do not forget to water them before you leave because no water at all and the lack of soil underneath can lead to the drying up of the plant.

Sit them in a tub

It will be the cutest thing to do and watch. Take all your plants and place them in a pool of water with up to 1 to 2 inches of water. All your planters have drainage holes underneath from which the soil and the roots can suck up the water and can make it reach the tips too. Indoor plants, outdoor plants and succulent plants can also fit in this category because they all comprehend each other's water requirement and everyone will have a good amount of what they need.

Winter

If it's the season of winter you don't have much to worry about because plants know how to survive in cold weather even if they are not provided water directly. You can still think of keeping them indoor so that the harsh environment from outside does not affect them. Even if they are outdoor plants and kept quiet in the open the weather and the water droplets from nature every evening will keep them growing.

Self-watering pot

Self-watering pots can be bought online or offline very easily. They are usually balls of water with a little hole in them from where the water keeps tripping right into the plant and the soil keeping them thriving throughout the time you are on your vacation. Add a sufficient amount of water to the ball if you have one kept at your place already and you travel often. And if you resemble yourself as a traveller and know that you will be on a tour very soon the next time as well you can keep these balls at your place and fill them with water every time you go and your plants would be fine.
